Banco Macro against gender-based violence

Buenos Aires, December 3, 2014. Banco Macro, which constantly strives to be closer to its customers, strongly believes in the values of diversity, tolerance and integration, values that are reflected in the Bank´s products and services.

Jointly with the Argentine Hockey Confederation, Banco Macro launched an action against gender-based violence held on December 2, minutes before the kick off of the Las Leonas- England hockey match. In the frame of the Champions Trophy, international tournament held from November 29th to December 7th in the Province of Mendoza. Las Leonas held a flag with the following message:: "We must all join to win this match against gender-based violence. Because in the commitment of all of us lies the true protection".

Moreover, this action is supported by the Women’s National Board (Consejo Nacional de las Mujeres), that from September 2013 has launched a Telephone Call Line 144 to provide support, information and advise to gender-based violence victims 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The 144 hotline is intended to provide immediate protection and support to women subject to violence.

Banco Macro is aware that inequality between men and women is still deeply rooted in many cultures. Gender differences in power reproduce and grow constantly, threatening women in their daily areas of action: her family, education institutions and workplace, among others.

In this frame, Banco Macro promotes actions which final goal is to attain gender equality, by means of the incorporation of activities fostering change and social and cultural transformation of society as a whole. The Bank understands that the creation of an equal social-cultural environment is essential to guarantee equality of opportunities.

"At Banco Macro we conduct business in the pursuit of a very clear goal: to be the most sustainable bank at a federal level. Consequently, we work on a daily basis to afford growth and improvement opportunities to the life quality of the communities where we operate, providing products and services in line with the needs of such communities. Therefore, corporate social responsibility, ethical corporate management and inclusion are of the essence to achieve our goal" stated Milagro Medrano, Institutional Relations Manager of Banco Macro.

At Banco Macro we work in furtherance of the development of present and future generations, in every corner of Argentina, reaching far away areas, where others do not reach. This is why we are always close to the people.
